Research chief slammed for WTO role

15 June 1999

NGOs at the WTO High Level Symposium on Trade and Development in March signed a statement expressing outrage at the way that Paul Collier (Director, Development Research Group, World Bank) chaired the session on “Linkages between trade and development policies”. They complained that he gave more time to the pro-liberalisation speakers than the critics, and made a long concluding speech presenting his own views instead of providing a chairman’s summary of the proceedings.
