World Bank to back Iran dam

The World Bank plans to back a dam in Mazandaran province, Iran. The Bank will provide a loan of 80 million dollars for the ‘Alborz’ dam which is estimated to cost a total of 130 million. The dam on the Babol river is intended to irrigate 50,000 hectares of farmland when it becomes operational.
