On March 24 the World Bank Board will hold a special consultation session about likely changes to the Bank's Independent Inspection Panel. NGOs are concerned that the Panel process may be significantly weakened, making it more difficult for citizens to bring claims. The Board's consideration of the proposal by a Board Working Group and any comments on this, will be held in April. NGOs are strongly urged to submit comments before then. The Proposal has been posted on the Bank's website and the Board is now soliciting public comment. The Board Working Group Proposal is on the web at www.worldbank.org/html/extdr/ipwg/report Deadline for comments is March 19. Send copies of all comments to Emilie Thenard at the Centre for International Environmental Law: cielet@igc.org. CIEL will post all comments on their website at www.igc.org/ciel This text may be freely used providing the source is credited.
