WDR to tackle trade, finance, global environmentThe World Bank's 1999/2000 World Development Report, due for release in September, will contain much material of interest to NGOs working on international policy issues. Chapters will address: international institutions, world trade, the global financial system, global environmental treaties, localisation and decentralisation, and urban policies. Just as the text of this year's report is being finalised, the "Poverty WDR" team is gathering in Washington to begin writing their first draft, which should be released for consultation next January. The Bretton Woods Project is considering a response to this year's WDR, in collaboration with other groups. This text may be freely used providing the source is credited.
