Friends of the Earth has produced a paper arguing that the Poverty Reduction Strategy process has overlooked environmental concerns. It argues that PRSPs have "excluded environmental concerns and failed to adequately recognize the inextricable links between poverty and environment". It cites an internal World Bank Africa Region review of PRSPs. This found that: "even though the poor in most PRSP countries are greatly dependent on natural resources, this is not explicitly mentioned in many cases". Friends of the Earth proposes better assessment processes and monitoring of key indicators. This text may be freely used providing the source is credited.
