The IMF has asked an independent researcher to produce a guidance note for staff on engaging with civil society. The note will try to answer questions such as what is civil society, why and how to engage, and what are the main pitfalls of engagement. There are indications that it will be designed as information and advice for staff rather than formal, binding guidelines. A draft has been circulated and civil society groups can comment until 20 June 2003. No permission needed to reproduce articles.
