Roberto Lenton succeeded Werner Kiene as chair of the World Bank's Inspection Panel in early November, and Eimi Watanabe was appointed as a panel member. The Inspection Panel is a three-member body which investigates alleged violations of Bank policies or procedures (see Update 34). Lenton, an Argentinian specialist in water resources, first joined the Panel in September 2007. He was previously director of the sustainable energy and environment division of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Watanabe, a Japanese national, has formerly held roles at the UNDP and United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF), including in India and Bangladesh.
