Hart Schafer, former director of operations for Africa, is now acting VP for the region. He steps in for Gobind Nankani who resigned in November after 30 years at the Bank, following reported disagreements with Wolfowitz. His resignation follows that of Christiaan Poortman, former VP for the Middle East and North Africa, who also cited differences with Wolfowitz and his advisors. Jordanian Marwan Muasher was appointed VP external affairs in December. He will replace Kevin Kellems, the acting VP, in March. Kellems will stay on as advisor to Wolfowitz.
