WTO protests grow

The Second Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva was marked by protests in many countries.

In Birmingham, venue of the G8 summit street parties were held, blocking main roads, and in Brazil, 40 000 landless and homeless people marched to the capital Brasilia. In India, there was a national rally and 23 regional conferences against the WTO. In Geneva, home of the WTO, many protesters were arrested.
