IMF mission creep

The IMF, which monitors all its members’ economies through its Article IV consultation process, is not content with monitoring the codes on fiscal policy, corporate governance and monetary policy. It is now proposing that it should also be responsible for monitoring governments’ efforts to achieve the International Development Targets by 2015.
