Many NGOs wrote to the Bank raising questions about the proposed Prototype Carbon Fund, adopted by the Board in July. Among them, the UK Climate Action Network and Bretton Woods Project raised concerns on: transparency, project selection criteria, the Bank’s exit strategy from the initiative, equitable benefit sharing, evaluation mechanisms and compliance with relevant treaties. Many international NGOs also signed a letter circulated by the Institute for Policy Studies.
