Major Bank pollution prevention handbook out

15 September 1999

After 5 years of preparation the World Bank and IFC have jointly published a Pollution Prevention and Abatement Handbook. This replaces the 1988 Environmental Guidelines and sets out in detail how Bank staff and government officials should approach pollution management.

Whilst it will be used more widely than just in the Bank, it also contains detailed guidelines for World Bank Group project preparation, including numerical targets for emissions levels.

The Handbook is for sale from the Bank at $125.
