CASE prawn-farm study

15 December 1999

The World Bank’s project to improve the integration of the environment in its Country Assistance Strategies has a component to examine decisions made in environmental management which have had significant negative or positive impacts on economic development. One is examining the environmental consequences of shrimp aquaculture in Thailand.

A Bank spokesperson said that no external organisations in Thailand or elsewhere were being consulted about this study; the Bank team is relying on existing written sources.
