Seattle remembered at IMF protests

12 December 2000

Activists and NGOs in Washington marked the first anniversary of the Seattle-WTO protests by holding a counter-reception outside the IMF‘s headquarters during the formal opening of its new visitor center.

“What the IMF is doing is very consonant with what the WTO does around the world – making the world safe for corporate privilege, making the world worse for the people in countries impacted by their policies, which are mainly countries of the South,” said Soren Ambrose of the anti-IMF network 50 Years Is Enough.
