World Bank social and environmental policies: abandoning responsibility?

The World Bank is planning a controversial major overhaul of its social and environmental policies. NGOs say the Bank has already diluted key provisions of these policies and are determined not to allow further changes which will make it harder to hold the Bank accountable for the impacts of its operations. They are calling for the Bank to improve the content and implementation of its policies in line with international agreements.
