The World Bank’s Operations Evaluation Department (OED) is to undertake an evaluation of Bank investments of over $10 billion in primary education worldwide since 1990. In the coming months, the OED will conduct detailed case studies before meeting with its external panel of advisers in June. The draft report is to be ready for September.
Terms of reference have been posted for the OED’s evaluation of the Bank’s approach in low-income countries under stress (LICUS). The evaluation will look at whether or not the approach is relevant, how effectively it has been implemented and how appropriate the Bank’s policies, procedures and support are for such countries. A full draft is scheduled for release in February 2006.
