US NGOs International Accountability Project (IAP) and Center for International Environmental Law have launched a new Early Warning System (EWS) to alert communities and NGOs to multilateral development bank (MDB) funded projects that may have a negative impact on human rights. The EWS maps risky projects as well as providing more information about MDB safeguards, standards and accountability mechanisms. Emily Joiner of IAP said the system “serves a dual function. It will provide communities with the information they need about projects”, and “the website also provides the tools for communities to submit a complaint and connect with national and international groups for support.”
