Staff restructure after new World Bank strategy approved

Article summary

Several new appointments as part of the restructure for the implementation of the World Bank’s new strategy.

As part of the restructure for the implementation of the World Bank’s new strategy, approved in October (see Observer Autumn 2013), there have been several new appointments. The internal restructure involved reducing costs and job cuts. Senior Bank staff Keith Hansen and Nena Stoiljkovic will oversee the 14 global practices, including agriculture, education, energy, health, poverty and water. The global practices replace the Bank’s old matrix management system based on functional ‘networks’ such as ‘sustainable development’ and ‘human development’ with broader remits.
